Tracey is an Ophthalmologist with subspecialist fellowship training in Medical Retina and Visual Electrophysiology. She also practices General Ophthalmology and is an experienced cataract surgeon. Tracey is committed to providing excellent eye care to help patients maintain and improve their vision.

Tracey combines her expertise and experience with the latest technology and up-to-date treatments.

She is friendly and down-to-earth. She is a good listener and communicates clearly to ensure all patients and their families have a better understanding of their condition and treatment options.


Dr Tracey Wong provides expertise in:

  • Age related macular degeneration assessment and management

  • Retinal vascular disease assessment and management including Diabetic retinopathy and Retinal vein occlusion

  • Monitoring for medication associated retinal toxicity e.g. Hydroxychloroquine

  • Assessment and diagnostic testing for acquired and inherited retinal diseases

  • Retinal laser treatment

  • Intravitreal therapies e.g. Avastin, Eylea, Lucentis


Training

Tracey graduated with a medical degree from the University of Auckland and completed Ophthalmology specialist training in Auckland and Wellington. She then pursued advanced subspecialist fellowship training at Greenlane Clinical Centre in Auckland, the University of Toronto, Canada, and Moorfields Eye Hospital in London, UK.


Work activities

Tracey is a Consultant at Manukau SuperClinic and is the current clinical lead for Medical Retina and Diabetes Retinal Screening for Counties Manukau District Health Board. She is also a Consultant at Greenlane Clinical Centre and is responsible for reporting electrodiagnostic tests on paediatric and adult patients referred from across Auckland and other parts of the country. She provides support for the Hydroxychloroquine Screening Service for Auckland, Waitemata and Counties Manukau District Health Boards.

Tracey also trains the next generation of ophthalmologists. She is a supervisor for Ophthalmology training and is an Optics Examiner for the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists (RANZCO).

She is a member of several ophthalmological societies including: 

  • The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists (RANZCO)

  • Australian and New Zealand Society of Retinal Specialists (ANZSRS)

  • European Society of Retina Specialists (EURETINA)

  • International Society for Clinical Electrophysiology of Vision (ISCEV)


Personal life

Tracey was born and brought up in Auckland. She has enjoyed exploring many different parts of the world and being exposed to different cultures, but her favourite place is New Zealand. Outside of Ophthalmology, Tracey enjoys spending most of her time with her family.
