Diabetic Retinopathy
Patients with diabetes are at risk of a condition called diabetic retinopathy in which the blood vessels of the retina are damaged. This can lead to serious complications that can cause loss of vision.
Sometimes laser or surgery is needed to save or restore vision. It is therefore important that patients with diabetes have regular eye checks even if they do have any vision problems. Patients with diabetes also have a higher risk of other eye conditions like cataracts and glaucoma.
